My family in Alaska is large, and when we get the relatives from the lower states to join us, we can certainly fill a room! This is my mother and father, my older sister Lynn and her family, my younger sister Shannyn and her family, my brother Curt minus his wife, my cousin Mary and her family, my Aunt Georgia and Aunt Jill, then there is us and our kids. These are the people that make the cold winter months enjoyable in Alaska. Summer is great too! July 2009

All my boys progress...

All three boys are going to the next grade up! I was told that Joshua may test for a higher grade in MO since the curriculum is not as difficult there and he was in all advance classes here for 7th grade. The work he has been doing, and getting honors for, is eighth grade. We shall see. Matt's report card is not being mailed until a math book is found, which he believes is still in his class. Why does he believe this? "I never bothered to bring it home mom, so it is in the school somewhere." Makes since, and it sure fits the reason for the grades. Not sure what Matt and Josh got on their report cards, but Luke has decent grades, not much change. For the first time ever though, he got his first D. He had B's all year in that subject, and it drops to a D because he could not concentrate on anything but schools end. It better not happen again.

Sooooo, all my boys move on to the next grade!

My big boys were surprised by a chance to go to JROTC camp this week. Their dad volunteers for the program (sponsored by the Army every year) and there was a space available for them to attend. Wes rushed home, packed their bags and the boys jumped in the truck Sunday night for camp. They wear their Dad's uniform down to the boots! They are learning to march, decipher the command calls that sound like dog barks to me, climbing and repelling the tower, and flying in a Black Hawk helicopter. SO many opportunities they would not have gotten before. Now they get to see first hand what their dad has done, and what he does now. (Wes is not teaching them, they are in a different group) They go from grudgingly saying 'yes sir' at home to shouting 'SIR, YES SIR!' at camp. Hilarious! I hear they are having a great time being little 'grown ups' and I am proud of them. They graduate on Wednesday and come home Thursday. Best part is, they get points in High School for this!!!
