My family in Alaska is large, and when we get the relatives from the lower states to join us, we can certainly fill a room! This is my mother and father, my older sister Lynn and her family, my younger sister Shannyn and her family, my brother Curt minus his wife, my cousin Mary and her family, my Aunt Georgia and Aunt Jill, then there is us and our kids. These are the people that make the cold winter months enjoyable in Alaska. Summer is great too! July 2009

Luke plays LEWIS!

Luke tried out for a part in this years school play "Lewis and Clark". In the past, the boys were happy to sneak behind other kids and mouth the words to the songs there were supposed to sing. Neither Matt nor Josh wanted the attention, or to have to stand in front of a crowd. We ALL know that Luke does not have this problem! lol.

He tried for the part of Napoleon, but got the part of Lewis instead. His best buddy Trevor got the part of Clark. They were a team for the play just as they are a team in school (same class) and a team in the neighborhood (lives beside us). Both worked so hard and encouraged each other constantly. Luke did his first run in the afternoon for the kids in school. My sister had run to get her daughter and stayed for a few minutes to watch. She said she never remembered it being funny before, but this year it was very entertaining, so I was VERY excited to see how he had done!

His Grandma and Grandpa, Mary, Curt and Rachael, Bill, his dad and brothers and I all packed in the VERY full gym to watch him that night. Joey and I sat on the floor, right where Luke sat while he was not doing his lines. Even just sitting, Luke has a way of catching people's attention. What confused me though was Luke at the microphone doing his part. I honestly would not have known that it was MY son speaking had I not scooted forward to see it was his lips moving. His voice was deep, confident (although a little shaky at first) and he did his lines clearly. I expected a bit of stuttering but he kept his voice clear and strong. This was another one of those moments where you feel like laughing and crying all at the same time. I was SO proud!

His costume was too cute. In fact, all of the kids were cute. For some reason, the same play we see every year was a lot better this year than the rest. My sister was not kidding! It was funny, very entertaining, and the kids had a lot of fun making the audience laugh and clap. They had FUN!

Good Job Luke! We always knew you would be an entertainer.
